Vale Nathan Goodman

This devastating news of the loss our dear friend, community cornerstone and absolute all round top bloke has shocked us all.

Our thoughts are with Aimee,Noah and Charlotte and the close and extended family.

You mightn’t have known Nathan’s name but you could easily have chatted to him at one of our events, he was a doer not a meetings man, immensely valuable and good company.

When we were planning our first Winter Christmas in 2022 he called me and asked if we’d like a Christmas tree, sure I said, thinking a little corner decoration!

It arrived. along with the iconic Christmas characters which have decorated each Christmas since.

As a community member supporting the recovery Nathan’s contribution was significant-

He relocated, stored and transported the newly erected playground to the Recreation Reserve.

He shared his expertise as a facilitator of a fruit tree pruning and propagation workshop.

He co-organized the inaugural Sarsfield Brew Club.

He filled in for the newly formed Sarsfield Cricket team.

Trained in Safe Food Handling, RSA, First Aid to support community events.

He cooked sausages, set up gazebos, set up tables and chairs and cleaned up rubbish.

He initiated a competition which has brought much joy, banter and stirred the competitive spirit within the Sarsfield Community- The Giant Tomato Competition – using Nathan’s specially bred seedlings Sarsfieldians were challenged to grow the heaviest tomato- the winner the recipient of the prestigious Golden Trowel Award!

We are planning to save the seeds and keep this competition going - The Nathan Golden Trowel Award!

Our Sarsfield Community has lost a ripper. Rest in peace Nathan.
