Gardening and Beautification: Have a green thumb? Assist with gardening efforts to keep our public spaces beautiful.
Facility Maintenance: Handy with tools? We could use help with small repairs and upkeep of community facilities.

Toilet and General care - Join the roster!
Background
Our Sarsfield Recreation Reserve and Hall is located on Crown Land managed by DEECA (Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action). The EGSC (East Gippsland Shire Council) has no responsibility for and is not involved in the facility's ongoing management or maintenance, so our community is responsible for maintaining these facilities.
Current Situation
- For the past 4+ years, toilet cleaning has been funded through Bushfire recovery funds .This funding has now ceased. To ease the load on volunteers the Men's and Ladies' toilets are currently locked between big events.
- One unisex toilet remains open for use between events
Volunteer Maintenance Program
Community volunteers are now maintaining these facilities and we are always looking for more helpers to go on the Roster so the lad is easier for everyone. We are seeking community volunteers to assist with the following tasks:
Areas Requiring Maintenance
1. Toilet facilities ( usually just the Unisex toilet)
2. BBQ area ( Clean BBQ and blow leaves off)
3. Veranda (leaf removal)
4. Playground mulch monitoring
Schedule
- Primary cleaning: Weekly thorough clean
- Additional maintenance: Brief touch-ups between scheduled cleans, check to make sure it’s all OK.
There is a checklist and we would show you what needs doing. If a glitch happens in your month we have backup available.
Get Involved
It seems to work well if 1 person ( or a couple) take responsibility for a calendar month, so this is how the roster is working currently, we have people covering 6 months . If there’s more people involved you would only be committing to help 1 month in 6 (or hopefully 12?)
Any help is appreciated..
Please contact Helen Wilson, 0417 720 408 or Cathy Mclellan 0488 051 936 to volunteer.
