Sandhill Ashes 2022

UPDATE: The match has been rescheduled to Sunday 10th April.

The greatly anticipation second installment of the Sandhill Ashes event is fast approaching.

The “social” cricket match between the two neighbouring fire impacted communities of Clifton Creek and Sarsfield is back for 2022.

Last years thrilling one run victory to Sarsfield has the Clifton Creeker's eager to turn the tables. They have organised training and BBQ sessions to prepare themselves for the big event.

ABC Radio broadcaster Craig Bush will again MC and commentate on the day and member clubs of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association will support with equipment and expertise.

Many of last years Sarsfield team will participate again and they hope to add a few new faces to their line up.

A great crowd enjoyed last years fun community day and organisers are hopeful of another big crowd.

Food, coffee and kids activities will be set up on the day.

Any prospective players living in or with connections to Sarsfield are encouraged to contact Phil on 0439411914.

Female players are encouraged to have a go too.

The Sandhill Ashes Urn was crafted from burnt timber after the 2019/2020 Summer Bushfires and is currently housed at the Sarsfield Hall. It is the symbolic prize presented to the winning team but based on last years event both communities came out winners.

We hope to see you there for another great match!
